Family Law Mediation and Complementary Client Support

Family law mediation for lawyers is a core part of my practice, supporting legal professionals whose clients are navigating separation, divorce, and family restructuring.

I work alongside legal professionals to support individuals and families navigating separation, divorce, and family restructuring. As a family law mediator, my role is to help clients manage conflict constructively, engage more effectively in the legal process, and make informed decisions during and after divorce.

My services are designed to complement legal representation, not replace it, and to assist in reducing emotional escalation that can delay or complicate family law matters.

Family Law Mediation

My primary service is family law mediation, supporting parties in resolving family disputes outside of litigation where appropriate.

I assist clients:

  • Before legal proceedings commence

  • During ongoing divorce or family law matters

  • Where parties wish to resolve specific issues such as parenting arrangements, communication frameworks, or post-separation planning

Divorce mediation provides a structured, neutral environment where parties can:

  • Address disputes calmly and constructively

  • Improve communication and reduce conflict

  • Reach informed, practical agreements

  • Support long-term family stability

My approach as a family mediator is neutral, measured, and future-focused, with an emphasis on sustainable outcomes rather than short-term resolution.

Complementary Divorce Conflict Coaching for Lawyers’ Clients

(Complementary Individual Support)

In addition to mediation, I offer Conflict Coaching for Divorce & Family Transitions as an individual support service that complements both mediation and legal representation.

Conflict coaching is a one-on-one process designed to help clients prepare for, navigate, and adjust to the realities of separation and post-divorce life. It does not replace mediation, therapy, or legal advice, and does not interfere with legal strategy.

This service supports clients with:

  • Emotional and practical preparation for divorce mediation or legal proceedings

  • Managing high-conflict interactions and ongoing family dynamics

  • Developing emotional regulation and clarity in decision-making

  • A grounded reality check around expectations, outcomes, and life changes after divorce

  • Forward planning for post-divorce adjustment and family transitions

Clients who receive structured individual support are often better prepared for mediation, communicate more effectively, and engage more constructively in the legal process.

Conflict coaching may be appropriate for clients:

  • Experiencing high emotional distress or reactivity

  • Struggling with ongoing family or co-parenting conflict

  • Requiring support outside joint mediation sessions

This service is suitable for clients with young children, adult children, or no children.

Supporting the Legal Process

I work independently and collaboratively, with a clear understanding of professional boundaries. My role is to support clients alongside the legal process by helping them regulate emotions, engage constructively, and reduce unnecessary conflict.

I do not provide legal advice, replace legal representation, or intervene in legal strategy.

Service Delivery

Mediation and conflict coaching services are offered online throughout South Africa, with face-to-face sessions arranged where appropriate.

Professional Referrals and Enquiries

Legal professionals are welcome to refer clients for family law mediation, divorce mediation, or conflict coaching for divorce and family transitions, where appropriate. I am available to discuss scope, suitability, and alignment with ongoing legal matters.

When to Refer a Client

Legal professionals may consider referral where a client:

  • Is emotionally overwhelmed or highly reactive

  • Struggles to engage constructively in mediation or legal discussions

  • Requires preparation before mediation or settlement discussions

  • Experiences ongoing co-parenting or family conflict post-divorce

  • Needs structured support to adjust to post-divorce life and decision-making

Conflict coaching supports clients individually, helping them regulate emotions, gain clarity, and engage more effectively in both mediation and the legal process.
